June 2019: The work of Burton YMCA
Updated: Jun 6, 2019
As part of our aim to work with all of the Burton organisations involved in homelessness, we were afforded huge generosity by the YMCA in Burton.
We were shown all of the facilities - the impressive (and very big) shop, the counselling rooms, the main offices and the amazing facilities for homeless people - shower, laundry, kitchen, food bank, TV lounge, support workers, housing advisers and so much more.
We saw inside one of the 71 flats used as transition accommodation and were really impressed with the space and layout. The YMCA also has a lovely garden landscaped by our local B&Q.
It was a quiet day as a coach load of YMCA clients had all been taken to the Monkey Forest in Stoke for the day - another generous service provided by the YMCA.
We met some lovely people who work at the YMCA offering their valuable services with the most enthusiastic 'can do' attitude - from finance, housing and operations to fundraising, mediating and cleaning!
Thank you Andy Horsnail and the team at Burton YMCA.
