A flaming good night!
On Thursday 5th September we did something little bit different. One of our regular hot food chefs Denise Tolson organised for Alrewas Scout leader James Roddick to help her host a barbecue for our homeless friends. It was a great night! James turned up with the Scout equipment in his trailer - accompanied with Denise laden with goodies.
We had between 45 and 50 people come for the treat feast of hot dogs, burgers, cheese, fried onions, potato salad, coleslaw and Thai peanut salad (all homemade) with Denise’s sumptuous banoffee pie and beautiful cakes by volunteer Holli Buchan and her lovely daughter.
We bought huge amounts of sausages, burgers, rolls and cheese from Bookers - it was all delicious and not a scrap was leftover.
We also had our usual salad boxes, breakfast bags and lunch bags and Barista Martin on drinks. The music played throughout (thank you Sharon Rose) and it really felt like we’d done a special thing. Thank you Denise, James and our wonderful volunteers, you are amazing ❤️
